To be honest I’ve always thought that Easter Island is too far away. Reading this is making me think again. especially if I combined it with a Latin America adventure.

A couple of times now I’ve seen the southern hemisphere sky without it truly being a dark sky experience.

From that picture, a stay on Easter Island would be a much better view of the night sky.

Obviously, I’ve seen images of the famous statutes but it’s a surprise to learn that there are over 900 of them.

Easter Island looks to be doing well in holding on to its traditional customs.

Let’s hope it keeps its independent culture and isn’t overwhelmed by First World commercialism.

Back in the 1990s I called in on Easter Islsnd on my trip around the world and it was like no where else that I visited and I wished that I could have stayed longer.

I expect that it’s changed a lot but from what I saw back then it’s definitely worth a visit.

I’m sure that I once read in a travel article that it has a name that translates something like – the place that is furthest from anywhere else.

This post is quite an eye-opener. I had no idea that you got luxury like this on Easter Island.
