The Caribbean’s best kept secrets

The Caribbean is a fantastic winter sun destination with average temperatures on most of the islands sitting above 80 degrees Fahrenheit. These perfect weather conditions make for ideal sunbathing weather and as such, interest in the Caribbean tends to surge around this kind of time. Whilst many of the leading branded resorts like Sandals and Beaches will always remain popular, we thought it would be an idea to share with you 5 lesser known luxury hot spots for 2013. Petit St Vincent, Grenadines The first little treasure to share is this – a stunning barefoot paradise located on a tiny island in the Grenadines. You’ll access this only-hotel-on-the-island via a 20 minute motorboat ride from Union Island (itself reached by domestic flight from Barbados). Full board is provided to include barbecues and island picnics as well as room service and a romantic restaurant on the beach. The island is blessed by an abundance of greenery, powder white beaches and beautiful waters for swimming and sailing. Choose from a one or two bedroom cottage both with separate living room, making them great for families as well as couples. Jumby Bay, Antigua and Barbuda This is a sensational 300 acre private island that you can reach in about 20 minutes by boat from the port in Antigua. Part of the prestigious Rosewood collection, the resort offers exclusivity and a quite breath taking natural landscape. An all-inclusive concept combines outstanding Caribbean cuisine with the traditional flavours of the Mediterranean. An unlimited open bar with imported house wines and a sunset cocktail cruise is included for all guests, too. Viceroy, Anguilla Owned by an interior designer, Viceroy pays homage to its creator’s intuitive genius in a delightful location overlooking both Meads and Barnes Bay on Anguilla. Pure white sands, an oceanfront spa, an adults only infinity pool and a family friendly approach ensures keen interest from a broad range of discerning travellers. Sunsets here are a sight to behold whilst the service in resort is second to none. If your budget will allow, you can upgrade to one of the stunning private villas with pool for the ultimate Caribbean accommodation. Montpelier Plantation & Beach, St Kitts and Nevis Situated on Nevis and featuring its own private beach, this former sugar plantation retains plenty of its old world charm. The site is said to have paid witness to Lord Nelsen’s marriage back in 1787 and today stands as a fully restored 30 acre estate, part of which is still used for sugar farming. Overlooking the Nevis Peak dormant volcano and boasting a stunning freshwater pool perfect for lazy days, guests can don a snorkel and head out to sea, play tennis or take in a memorable meal at the AAA Four Diamond Relais & Chateaux approved main restaurant. Magdalena Grand Beach Resort, Tobago Located on a 750 acre plantation is this revitalised fully all- inclusive hotel that was formerly managed by the Hilton chain. Surrounded by a 2.5 mile beach, nature trails and mangroves perfect for walking and kayaking – the hotel welcomes families and provides leading facilities for young and young at heart, with diving centre, tennis courts, pitch and putt course and complimentary special activity clubs for children. Choose from Standard to Oceanfront rooms and suites all with a marble bathroom, HD flat screen TV, deluxe cotton linens and room service from 06:00 until midnight. 1. I stayed at Jumby Bay – what an amazing experience! We had a stunning villa. I could have lived there for a month! Have to give a shout out to the amazing water sports staff. They made all our adventures beyond awesome! They are so friendly and had us laughing so hard we couldn’t even paddle our kayak in a straight line!
