Expedia Insiders’ Select

Expedia Insiders' SelectI wasn’t familiar with Expedia Insiders’ Select, a list of their  best hotels and resorts worldwide  based on the opinions of Expedia users, until receiving a recent email from The Reef Resort in the Cayman Islands, proudly pointing out that they rank as #1 in the Caribbean and #14 in the world.   It’s an interesting list but, as you might expect, dominated by US hotels and resorts, and places that US citizens might visit.   Here’s their top 20 worldwide, along with  scores:

  1. The JW Marriott Presidential Suite is the reason I would deign to visit buggy fungusy middle of nowhere Hawaii.

The hyatt regency in kyoto at no 9 is a fabulous hotel. the rooms are stunning very japanese in style, large and the beds have beautiful kimono fabric headboards. the service is excellent and the hotel is located across from the national museum and right next door to one of the main temples, in addition the subway is at the bottom of the road. it is a tranquil haven in busy kyoto.
