Top 5 Easter holiday ideas for families
Mallorca
Finca El Coto is within a luscious rural setting with stunning sea views. The villa has beautiful living areas both indoor and outside for relaxing in and the covered veranda is a particular favourite in the heat of the day for cooling off! The solar powered heated swimming pool gives the little ones less of a shock when splashing about in the waters and gives parents a good ‘eco tick’ when pondering the climate change debate.
The villa lies within its own gorgeous gardens, which are great for exploring and taking in the Mediterranean atmosphere. For the more adventurous family they can head to the National Park of Cala Mondrago for the incredible sandy beaches, but there are also other beaches located only 2km away. Another recommendation is the twice weekly market which is wonderful to wander through and inspire children with new flavours and aromas, not to mention the many delicious restaurants in the vicinity. This villa will enable complete relaxation for the whole family.
A private yacht
This is the perfect answer to give you and your family a fantastic and ‘all you could wish for’ holiday. Oasis is a luxury super yacht (sleeps 12) and is moored off the coast of the Balkan country of Montenegro. Every need is considered and all possible ‘watery toys’ are available to you – from a dinghy, paddleboards and kayaks and many more!
Sail through the breathtaking fjords en route to Kotor, with use of the outdoor cinema, private nightclub, gym, jet skis and enjoy world class cuisine served by the on board crew of 15 people. Oasis was recently refurbished and the cabins are incredibly comfortable, decorated in a fresh ‘beach house’ feel.
A family friendly hotel
Spice Island Beach Resort is located on Grand Anse beach, on the beautiful island of Grenada. It has often been described as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. It’s beachside location covers eight acres, yet it has all the personal touches, including being personally welcomed by the owner Sir Royston Hopkins, making you instantly feel like part of the family. A perfect home from home!
Spice Island offers complimentary water sports such as paddle boards, Hobie-cats, kayaking and snorkelling and there are other activities on offer such as tennis and cycling. But for the more adventurous and the explorers of the family, an array of tours and exciting trips can be arranged with the hotel including visits to the rainforest, scuba diving trips, sailing charters or a trip to a local rum distillery to name a few. The resort is very family friendly with a special programme called ‘The Nutmeg Pod’ designed to keep the younger ones entertained with lots of fun activities and games.
A safari lodge
Easter holidays are considered one of the best times to visit South Africa and embark on a safari that will remain in your children’s’ memories for many years after. Stay at Royal Malewane, in the heart of the bush, where you and your family can seek out the ‘Big Five’. Learn as you look with their experienced guides and relax in the gorgeous suites kitted out with all the features and fittings you need for ultimate luxury.
An English country retreat
Chewton Glen is a quintessential English privately owned, luxury country hotel on the fringe of the New Forest in beautiful Hampshire. It’s very family friendly, with a Kids’ Club to allow parents to indulge in a spa treatment or two or play a round of golf together whilst safe in the knowledge that their children are having fun.
There is also a fabulous range of activities to take part in as a family as well including tennis, croquet, mountain biking, hiking and clay pigeon shooting. There are some beautiful stretches of coastline not far away to enjoy an outing to the beach or you can try the array of water sports on offer. The award winning spa within the hotel is full of tranquility and the dining is exquisite. It can be as formal or informal as you choose with a combination of traditional timeless dishes and new innovative plates. The contemporary treehouse accommodation is an inspiration and every child is guaranteed to love them (as well as us ‘big kids’ too)! What are you waiting for?

I’ve been to Mallorca so many times but always stayed on a hotel near the beach. Finca El Coto villa looks fantastic. My son would love the pool, whilst my husband (a green engineer), would get a kick out of the solar heating. A safari lodge would also be unbelievable – but I’ll be honest, for an Easter holiday I agree that an English country retreat is a wonderful holiday. Chewton Glen sounds exceptional – a spa for me, golf for my husband and a kids club for my son – perfect. Not sure if anyone else agrees with me, but sometimes a British holiday is just what you need to relax without the extra stress of flights and travel arrangements.
As a child we always used to go away for a week at Easter, it was a tradition that we always used to visit a different place. I have always wanted do a safari holiday and that would be an amazing experience for children. Staying in the UK, Chewton Glen sounds just right. You need somewhere where there is something for the whole family to do something, both separate and apart. Spa for me and mountain biking for dad and the children!
This is excellent, I was just thinking about going on holiday for the Easter instead of having the celebrations at home. I have visited Mallorca before in my childhood and would certainly go again. Finca El Coto looks like a lovely place to stay – the solar powered pool is a huge bonus for me! I’m going to have to do more research about Chewton Glen, you made that one sound perfect, I’m a sucker for the English countryside.
The Villa in Mallorca looks brilliant, looks like a great place to relax and go for a swim. Me and the family have always wanted to do a safari lodge so hopefully we will soon! English country retreats are always a good option and not far to travel. I really like Hampshire too with its beautiful countryside and range of outdoor activities.
I’ve been to Mallorca and we rented out a villa, for a week. Turned out that for 5 people we enjoyed for a reasonable price all the perks of having a villa and a chef. I’ve never stayed in a safari lodge though, and I think it would be an amazing holiday with my family or my friends. Looking forward to your next suggestions of places to go to!
Yacht holidays are great to bring families together and a great way to learn about water life and team work so I totally agree that would be a great Easter break.
The safari would be a phenomenal experience for children to experience as well as the adults of the group!
