A Luxury Travel Blog has always broadened my horizons over the decade I’ve been dropping into the pages. In all that time I can ‘t remember coming across the Exuma Islands before.

Though broadening my horizons may not be a good thing. There are now too many places on my travel wish list.

One more tip. If you’re sailing with friends or extended family, put together a game plan before you take to the water.

I’m not saying that you should schedule every hour but you ought to have an outline of what people want to do. Otherwise you get into trouble with expectations (as we did).

In reply to Carolyn. Carolyn it is such an incredible experience. You really get up close and personal with the wild life in see places that you otherwise would not be able to get to other than sailing to these remote places. It is spectacular.

I’ve seen plenty of pictures of friends and family swimming with dolphins. Swimming with nurse sharks is one that I hadn’t seen until now. They look very sociable.

It’s often said that the world is getting smaller and there are few quiet corners left. If that’s the case why haven’t I heard of these 365 Exuma Islands before? From all of these wonderful pictures it looks as if we’ve all been missing out on something very special.

The bit on packing essentials is very helpful. I’d have never thought to pack another layer for the evenings, I would have assumed that it would be warm all the time in the Tropics.

Crewed chartered yacht v bareboat charter? It’s no contest.

I want to relax on my vacations. I have enough responsibilities and things to organise for the rest of the year.

Vacations are my time to let all that responsibility slip from my shoulders and for once other people can do all the work. My only job is to enjoy myself.

The question is not so much “Why the Exumas?” but more “Where are the Exumas?”

Pardon my ignorance but I’d never heard of the Exumas. I have now. They look like paradise!
