Perhaps rather predictably, Brazil tops the pile in the list of the countries to visit as it prepares to be the host nation for the FIFA World Cup. Expect to see the country top the list in 2016 also, when Brazil welcomes the Olympic flame. Of course, though, there’s much more to this country than these two major spectacles.
1. Brazil
2. Antarctica
3. Scotland
4. Sweden
5. Malawi
6. Mexico
7. Seychelles
8. Belgium
9. Macedonia
10. Malaysia

Sikkim has really cleaned up its game – quite literally, having been named the cleanest state in India last year. It is being increasingly recognised as an ecotourism destination, and offers a Himalayan wilderness that you can’t help but fall in love with.
1. Sikkim, India
2. The Kimberley, Australia
3. Yorkshire, England
4. Hokuriku, Japan
5. Texas, USA
6. Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe
7. Mallorca, Spain
8. West Coast, New Zealand
9. Hunan, China
10. Haapai, Tonga
Lonely Planet’s “travel experts” have come up with three lists for where to visit in 2014. The top 10 cities to visit in 2014, the top 10 countries to visit in 2014 and the top 10 regions to visit in 2014. I do feel it lacks credibility when one of the “countries” they list is Antarctica but for what it’s worth here are the destinations they’re recommending you visit in each of these categories:

Paris is consistently popular but has in recent times enjoyed a resurgence, perhaps partly in thanks to its tackling of the problem of congestion. Improved walkways and cycleways along the River Seine and new car-free zones in the city are seemingly making it more attractive to visit than ever.
1. Paris, France
2. Trinidad, Cuba

The sad news is that it will be very complicated to visit all these places in one year.
It would be a great idea to offer flight + tours + hotels to all these places in one package !
I don’t think anyone’s suggesting you attempt to visit them all in one year, Robert! Rather, I think it is just a series of suggestions as to where might be good to visit in 2014…
I’d love to travel all over these countries next year! but working and having only one month of holidays is impossible :___(
I think we cant miss a paradise Island SRI LANKA.one of the natural beauty with all the scenic view for tourism
is there how could we forget…….?
It is good to see that my country Malaysia is in the list! If you do come visit us, drop me a line, lets meet!:)

@Paul Johnson indeed…even a lifetime wouldn’t be enought to discover all the beauties of each destinations
@TMA GIRSY Sri Lanka is such a beautiful destination. But it seems that is has been featured already this year (2013):

Interesting that Adelaide is on the list. Do yourself a favor: spend some time outside Adelaide as well, because that part of South Australia is beautiful (Wilpena Pound/Flinders Ranges, Barossa Valley, Kangaroo Island).
Chicago finally made somebody’s list! If I could only visit one city in the entire world, I’d have to choose between Sydney and Chicago. But I think Chicago wins, for its concentration of good restaurants, exceptional museums, and stunning architecture.
I agree with one of the comment. It is very expensive to visit them all in 1 year but then again that is only a suggestion so most probably those people who love to visit different places would only consider a couple of them.
