The new European Capital of Culture: Liverpool

LiverpoolAt precisely 20:08 GMT this evening, the city of Liverpool in the UK will begin celebrating its European Capital of Culture status in the company of some 600 performers and a centrepiece performance by Ringo Starr.   The year-long title could bring the city as much as £50m in tourism revenue alone.   The last time the UK was home to a City of Culture was with Glasgow back in 1990.

  1. This has done a lot for Liverpool, there’s so much to see there… Antony Gormley’s Another Place and the rotating building that turns it inside out, pretty cool!

  2. I have never been to Liverpool so can’t really comment. My cousin lives there, so maybe I will get to visit sometime.

  3. yes you should make the trip, you obviously also have the beetles museum and the docks is a nice area. Also the Wirral has some really lovely parts for nice strolls along the water :)
