Benzina
At the top of our list of recommendations is Benzina. This neighbourhood modern Italian Restaurant is located in Sant Antoni, serving up sophisticated Italian cuisine and an extensive list of creative cocktails to match. Our personal favourite dish would have to be the braised oxtail cannelloni, served with a scrumptious taleggio béchamel sauce, confit artichokes and mint. It is simply superb. Another shoutout must also go to Benzina’s dessert menu! With 5 innovative sweet creations, you are bound to find something divine to sink your teeth into. The rose tartlet, with rhubarb, sour cherries and lime meringue, for example, is the perfect way to end any meal!

This restaurant, specialising in authentic Venetian cuisine with a modern touch, is truly worth a visit. Their menu is not long, but instead emphasises quality over quantity. Everything is fresh and homemade here. Simplicity with a touch of innovation, thats what we like! Be sure to enjoy their Italian wines on offer, too. Il Mercante di Venezia
Last but not least, Il Mercante di Venezia is an Italian restaurant located in the heart of Barcelona, specifically in the Gothic Quarter. Some of the standout dishes on the menu include the black squid ink spaghetti with shrimp and cherry tomatoes, the grilled octopus with potatoes and cherry tomatoes and the homemade ravioli filled with burrata cheese and black truffle- which is our personal favourite.
Il Mercante di Venezia has an extensive wine list, featuring both Italian and Spanish wines to complement the meal. The restaurant has a cozy and intimate atmosphere, with dim lighting and soft music, making it an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

I love Italian but it seems like heresy to eat Italian when you’ve got all that great Spanish food around you.
Hi Joe. Yes I see what you mean. Perhaps Italian cuisine is something to keep in mind for longer stays in the city!
Benzina looks very stylish and very tempting. Might give it a try when we’re next in Barcelona.
Hi Sally! Thanks for your comment. We’re sure you won’t be disappointed :)
I need to add Parking Pizza to my collection. I must have eaten pizza in around 110 of the world’s cities.
