If you are going to invest that much time and money travelling to the Indian Ocean then I think you should go for the full Monty and get the sea plane experience as well.

I’ve done both air and sea transfers to Maldives islands and in my book seaplane is the only way to arrive.

For me the views that you get as you fly in are one of the highlights, if not the highlight of the trip.

I’ve only been to the Maldives once and our transfer was by boat. Friends who’ve had seaplane transfers say that it really is the best way to see the Maldives spread out ahead of you.
