You might have planted a seed in my head. I’d never even thought of a yacht charter as a possibility until I read this which cleared some of the mists of confusion.

In reply to Shane Bunn. Thanks, Shane. Yes, it can be very confusing for a novice charterer. Perhaps the most important step is to find a trusted broker with plenty of experience. A good broker will be happy to guide you step by step and find the most suitable yacht for your given budget.

In reply to Chris H. Hi Chris, Many yachts do offer lower off-season charter rates or last minute discounts. It is always best to speak to your broker and ask directly, as the special rates might not always be advertised.

Is the bottom line the price you will pay or is there much room for negotiation? If we’re travelling off season can we expect much of a discount on peak season prices?

I think I read a similar piece recently on ALTB which was essentially a beginners’ guide to yacht charter.

I’m not complaining, in fact I’m giving thanks. If you’ve never chartered a yacht before it can be a minefield for beginners. The more advice that’s dished out, the better.
