Interesting that you include yurts, I’ve stayed in a couple of yurt, the second one showed amazing craftsmanship.

It was also big enough for a whole gang of us to get together which was a very different weekend. Great fun.

My grandmother was from Carolina. When I stayed with her as a child she used to cook up some some of her favourite dishes from when she grew up in the South before moving north and west.

A trip to North Carolina, and some meals down there, would bring back good memories for me.

The problem with us Brits when it comes to heading to the USA is that we usually get on a plane for California, Florida, New York, Boston or possibly even Texas.

This post is a nice reminder that we ought to think beyond the tourist hotspots when it comes to USA travel.
